A top 20 International Law Firm is looking for an International Tax Manager to join the firm on a 12 month contract. This is a new role which would report to the Global Head of Tax and will be managing an assistant.
You would be working very closely with other teams such as Partnership Accounts as well as wider international teams and partners therefore strong communication skills and the ability to converse with individuals at different levels of seniority is essential.
This position will require you to advise on the structuring of the worldwide organisation to optimise the tax position of the partners and the entities through which the organisation trades, including general partnerships, subsidiaries and UK LLPs.
You will be liaising heavily with the global offices to ensure that all fillings & tax payments are accurate and efficiently produced as well as identifying appropriate partner information to ensure that the tax advisors in the international offices can enable fillings and double tax return claims to be made by partners in each territory.
You must undertake technical analysis and project management which would include instructing and liaising with overseas advisors, accountants and legal advisors (internal & external), for example projects on the opening of new offices or transferring the a branch LLP to a separate UK LLP.
You will also have to advise on claims under various double taxation agreements, and EU VAT issues alongside transfer pricing work and management of any tax audits going on.
You need good systems knowledge as you will be creating systems to allocate all non-UK tax payments to relevant partners. You will also be creating and managing tax reserves for partners globally and must be able to identify and deal with any deferred tax issues for partners with global advisors/offices.
The final element to this position is a managerial one as you will be overseeing the work of an assistant so ideally you would have previous management experience to enable you to coach and develop them further.
The successful applicant will have experience within a similar position at a senior management level and hold a professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CTA) as well as being happy to travel.
