This law firm is one of the longest established firms in London, with a history going back to the seventeenth century. The firm is now a mid-sized commercial practice with 70 partners and practice areas that include Corporate, Employment, Disputes, Family and Private Client.
They are currently recruiting for an Accountant, who will have responsibility for production of annual budgets and monthly management accounts.
The ideal candidate will be Part-Qualified and have recent experience in a similar role.
Preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, including a detailed monthly written report.
Departmental profit and loss accounts, contribution statements and performance reports.
Agree annual budget drivers and assumptions.
Production of consolidated plans and budgets for the firm.
Responsibility for maintaining budgets on the Practice Management System and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Calculation of forecast profit and loss position.
Support stakeholders on request for financial analysis, such as trends or client profitability, providing written explanations.
Providing stakeholders with detailed monthly expenditure reports and further analysis as required.
Monthly variance analysis of significant cost items.
Provide pricing and project planning advice to Partners.
Responsible for setting and maintaining standard and non-standard charge-out client rates on the PMS, keeping records and analysing trends
Responsible for calculating underlying cost rates.
Ad hoc projects and reporting, including preparation of financial analysis for partner assessments and departmental strategy papers.
Part-Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with relevant work experience.
Experience of working in professional services, preferably legal industry.
Experience of implementing or developing BI reporting systems will be an advantage.
Ability to work without supervision and prepared to use initiative.
Confident, with excellent communication skills.
