An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join one of the UK’s largest law firms as a Business Manager. Based in central London and reporting into the senior finance management team, the purpose of the role is to act as a finance business partner, providing hands on support and guidance to an allocated practice group and the firm’s key sectors.
Working closely with the head of a practice group and sectors the Business Manager is allocated to, the key responsibilities of the role include supporting those Partners with the financial management of the group with a particular focus on profitability; giving advice and guidance during budgeting and re-forecasting and explaining financial analysis and reporting; working on pricing of bids, tenders and client proposals; and preparing information required to support any proposed lateral hires and team promotions. As part of a team of business managers, the role also requires an individual able to work in a collegiate way who can help to roll out and co-ordinate uniformed approaches to maintenance of profit margin targets, pricing consistency and the encouragement of cross selling around the business.
This is a senior position within the finance function and requires a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with a proven track record of operating as a finance business partner in a partnership environment in the corporate professional services world. The ability to communicate effectivly with Partners and heads of business services’ departments should be demonstrable as is the ability to facilitate behavioural and operational changes.
