A leading law firm in the city of London is looking for a Business Development Manager to provide high quality and effective business development support for lawyers in the Corporate Transactions and Competition team to include, pitch proposals, marketing collateral, events and significant ad-hoc projects and line management. This role represents an excellent opportunity for a Senior Executive or Junior Manager looking for the next step up. Main responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the partners in developing new business through pitching, providing background research, collating information on the firm's experience and producing focused business proposals highlighting the teams' expertise
• Contributing to department and product line business plans and overseeing implementation and evaluation
• Monitoring client and market developments and delivering relevant and focused information to the relevant lawyers and using your knowledge of the market and the practice to proactively suggest ideas for client development
• Maintaining key information systems such as the CRM system Interaction and the intranet
• Managing the production of pitches with great attention to detail and to agreed deadlines
• Planning and managing events of all descriptions from inception to completion, to ensure maximum stand-out and return on investment
• Supervising the circulation of client communications including briefings, newsletters and newsflashes
• Ensuring all materials, pitch records, CVs, experience statements and contact and mailing lists are clean, up to date and easily accessible Manage and report on BD budget for RSSG and Banking
• Liaising with partners to draft directory and league table submissions
• Acting as an advocate for the BD department at practice level, ensuring key messages, brand strategy and marketing output in all its forms is properly understood and appreciated by partners and lawyers

The ideal candidate will hold a good university degree or equivalent qualification and must have significant business development experience gained in a professional services environment to include a good understanding of finance, banking and restructuring. Good people management skills, particularly experience in engaging with partners and senior management as well as developing and nurturing junior team members is necessary, as is the ability to juggle a busy and varied workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
