My client is a leading international law firm, providing an exciting opportunity for a Resource Manager to launch and lead a new resourcing approach within the largest London department. This is a newly created role and is intended to be an integral enabler of an ambitious growth strategy.

The Resource Manager role will manage all aspects of resourcing to achieve business goals, whilst balancing client requirements and individual career aspirations. You'll work collaboratively with leadership, Partners, and stakeholders within the office to draw on your experience of best practice to shape the new approach, support the change management required, and deliver.

The key duties will include:

  • Proactively liaise with partners and associates to understand client requirements and the wider needs of the business, to facilitate effective resourcing decisions.
  • Managing all work allocation across the department, on behalf of the Partners.
  • Applying commercial considerations to work allocation as required, encouraging appropriate staffing leverage, and alternate delivery options for work.
  • Monitoring chargeable hours’ figures and utilisation by individual / grade / team.
  • Work with individuals to improve their productivity and highlight potential shortfalls / over-utilisation to Partners and management as required.
  • Sharing knowledge and best practice across the department and wider business.

The Resource Manager role would a suit a candidate with established resource management experience in a legal or professional services area. You will be a motivated ‘self-starter’ who is comfortable in launching a new role and service, drawing on best practice and operating without existing structure. The Resource Manager role is founded on effective working relationships with all staff, and so you will need to be a trusted advisor providing balanced, pragmatic advice around workforce planning and resource management to the business.
