A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Resource Manager to launch and lead a new resourcing approach within the largest London department of a leading law firm. This newly created role is intended to be an integral enabler of the firm's ambitious growth strategy and the successful candidate will have the chance to shape and develop the role in conjunction with key business stakeholders.

The Resource Manager will manage all aspects of resourcing within the Corporate Department to achieve business goals, whilst balancing client requirements and individual career aspirations. You will work collaboratively with leadership, Partners, and stakeholders within the office and draw on your experience of best practice to shape the new approach, support the change management required, and deliver all aspects of the role. Reporting directly to the Business Manager supporting the whole department, you will work with the Department Manager, Group Leaders and Business Manager to support the firm's commitment to higher organisational performance and a diverse and inclusive culture. This role is a people focused role founded on effective working relationships with all staff, at all levels across the department and, in addition to it being a new role for the Corporate Department, it will be a first for the UK firm, with the potential to shape a wider adoption across the office over time. Key responsibilities will include proactive liaison with partners and associates to understand client requirements and the wider needs of the business in order to facilitate effective resourcing decisions and the fair and consistent allocation of work. You will develop and manage work allocation tools, including the firms existing Capacity Tracker and ensure accurate forecasting of individual activity by tracking activity data and analysing this against actual time recording, flagging any discrepancies to individuals and escalating where required. The Resource Manager (Corporate) will work with individuals to improve their productivity and highlight potential shortfalls or over-utilisation to Partners and management as required. Working in conjunction with the Business Manager, HR and other stakeholders, you will assess and plan future resource requirements based on projected workflows and the wider needs of the business with HR and other stakeholders and co-ordinate absences ensuring awareness across the department and that resourcing requirements can be fulfilled at all times. The role holder will also be expected to produce accurate and commercially focussed management information for the Department, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks and must strive for continuous improvement and innovation, playing a pivotal role in contributing to the department's performance.

With a strong academic background, it is critical that you have extensive prior experience in a resource management, manpower planning or similar role within a large professional or corporate environment and are comfortable launching a new role and service, drawing on best practice and operating without existing structure. The firm is looking to recruit a self-starter who can develop and drive a new initiative, alongside retaining full responsibility for resource management down to the lowest level of detail. An interest in innovation, and exploiting technology to keep the focus on leading the field rather than following is essential as are outstanding stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation.
