The West of England is a leading mutual marine insurer providing its worldwide membership of shipowners, charterers and operators with third party liability insurance and related services. The Club is managed from London but with offices in Greece, Hong Kong and Singapore and currently provides cover for more than 110 million gross tons of shipping on a global basis. The provision of outstanding service to its Members (i.e. clients) is at the core of what it does and is crucial to the brand and sustaining long term relationships with those Members.

The Club has a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and driven PR and marketing specialist to join the team. This is a newly created role at an exciting juncture at the Club.  It is a completely greenfield site and so the opportunity will be to create, develop and implement the strategy and build the infrastructure from scratch. There is support across the board for this role and significant buy-in from the leadership.

The role will focus on increasing brand awareness and profile raising within existing and new markets via various channels to include, PR and media relations, thought leadership and campaigns, development of relevant social media platforms, events and other marketing activities.  You will also be responsible for the look and feel of the brand, website content and all publications including liaising with the design agency. You will play a key part in researching and selecting a new CRM system and your role will be international in its remit.

The ideal candidate will have come from a legal, professional services or insurance-related background. You will be operating at Manager level already and be able to work strategically as well as being very hands-on and happy to implement all the initiatives.  What is key is being able to build strong relationships at all levels both internally and externally. You will have regular liaison with the senior directors at the Club as well as some client interaction. You will be the first port of call for all media and PR and be responsible for building those relationships.  You will need to be proactive and demonstrate a deep understanding of how to really increase the profile of the Club within the appropriate markets.
