The Role

We are looking for a Legal Cashier to join the Finance & Accounting team at Baker McKenzie in London.
This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who has extensive accounts payable experience gained in a legal or professional services environment.

We are looking for someone who is able to communicate at all levels and develop strong working relationships with both external and internal clients and suppliers. The ability to be organised and demonstrate a highly professional and committed attitude towards their work is crucial. You should also be both proactive and responsive, with very strong communication skills. Excellent attention to detail is essential.

Duties include:

  • Responsible for checking and paying all AP invoices (vendor invoices processing offshored)
  • Assisting with Barrister/Counsel fee payments
  • Dealing with multi-currency payments
  • Assisting with office and client bank reconciliations
  • Using electronic funds transfer methods
  • Assisting with cover for Client Account, Counsel Fees & Cash Receipts where necessary
  • Covering various cashiering duties on a rotational basis

Our 40-strong London team is led by our Chief Financial Officer and is structured into two broad areas:

Reporting and Accounting

This function looks after all of the Firm's reporting needs, both internal and external. This includes strategic planning and budgeting, management accounts, statutory accounts and tax work.

Finance Operations

This team is responsible for the day-to-day operations, including billing, collections, cash management & treasury, and client monies.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience working as a cashier in a legal or professional services environment
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or Elite (or similar legal PMS) would be a distinct advantage
  • Flexible in attitude and approach to work
  • Ability to work under own initiative and within a team
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • First class communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Methodical in approach to work
  • Good organisational skills
  • Respects and enjoys the diversity of cultural, social and academic backgrounds found in the Firm
