We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Revenue Controller to join our Finance team in Bristol reporting to the Revenue Billing Manager. This is a Full Time Position, working 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with flexibility to meet deadlines as required.

Purpose of Job:

To undertake all aspects of revenue control Billing for all practice groups in accordance with established operational processes and policies.

To maintain lockup at acceptable levels for all practice groups, encouraging good billing and possibly assist with debt collection behaviour from fee earners.

To assist Manager and team in reaching the Billing target given by the firm each month.

To Support the Billing manager and work closely with the billing team.

To deal with:

Billing aspects such as WIP chasing, rate maintenance, bill production and bill cancellations for all practice groups.

Resolving queries across all OCI offices, maintaining e-billing systems.

Processing some disbursements, producing draft and copy bills.

Interaction with the lawyers is key to this role, therefore we require someone with exceptional interpersonal skills who can build strong working relationships at all levels across our offices together with the ability to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deal with and resolve client queries independently, including international queries.

  • Find solutions for billing problems, developing and documenting procedures.

  • Develop and implement internal e-billing solutions.

  • Work with suppliers to implement e-billing solutions and to take the lead in developing these relationships.

  • Train all levels of staff on various aspects on the billing process and a number of the billing related systems.

  • Deal with large volumes of data input when required.

  • Resolve and implement rates along with maintaining records.

  • Follow up unbilled WIP and disbursements with Fee Earners.

  • Maintain accurate WIP notes within the Revenue Control software (ARCS) along with ensuring client, matter, fee earner, charge out rates etc. are accurately held within Elite.

  • Comply with Revenue Control team processes and, where required, assist with their development and implementation.

Person Specification:

  • Self-motivated and proactive.

  • Work on own initiative.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across all aspects of the Revenue Control team's work and ensure that issues are addressed promptly, professionally, openly and constructively.

  • Ability to communicate and interact appropriately and constructively with customers and colleagues.

  • Ability to work independently and to identify and act on issues which need to be escalated.

  • Ability to assist with the design and implementation of policies and processes.

  • Good organisational abilities.

  • Good time management and prioritisation skills.

  • Knowledge of Elite, Minisoft (Arcs) applications and E-billing systems would be advantageous.


For this Senior Billing role, you will require previous legal and billing experience. Strong communication skills and proven managerial experience are essential as is the ability to work under pressure whilst paying attention to detail.
