The team

The HR team is made of a Director of HR, an HR Advisor, an HR Administrator (this post), a Recruitment Specialist, a Reward Specialist and an L&D team consisting of an L&D Specialist and an L&D Advisor.  The team is located across two of the five sites; Bristol and Swindon. 

The HR team’s purpose is 'Striving for excellence in the every day and using our expertise to enable a great place within which to work and grow'.  We act as strategic and operational business partners to the firm and support, guide and advise managers and employees on all matters relating to Resourcing, Learning and Development, Reward and Recognition, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement and Performance Management.

Purpose of the role

To provide general administrative support to the HR team, primarily supporting the HR Advisor with transactional HR process tasks.  In addition, the role will be the first line support for generalist HR queries.

The role will also support the Recruitment Specialist as well as the wider HR team, as and when required.

The ideal candidate will have previous HR administrative experience, be a team player who likes to get involved - actively contributing to a great working and supportive environment. You will have the willingness to learn, the ability to adapt your working style to the need of others and to the ever changing challenges and pressures; thriving on a fast paced working environment where no two days are the same.

Responsibilities

Snapshot:

  • Prepare and send contracts and offer letters to new candidates  

  • Send offer letter packs and collate new joiner paperwork 

  • Ensure all right to work documents are sought  

  • Ensuring background and reference checks are completed 

  • Preparing new employee files 

  • Serving as a point person for all new employee questions 

  • Variation of contract letters (e.g. flexible working requests) 

  • Updating and maintaining employee benefits, employment status, and similar records 

  • Maintaining records related to grievances, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions 

  • Replying to speculative applications

  • Assisting in booking rooms for interviews

  • Graduate recruitment – all related administration i.e. sending out interview invitations, assisting with telephone interviews, assisting in organising the day, and any other ad hoc duties

  • Assisting in organising Law Fairs

Interviews will be taking place week commencing 21st August, and there will be a 1st and 2nd stage process.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in a HR Department or in a similar role

  • Understanding of the value of customer service to an organisation.

  • Very good oral and written skills, which facilitate effective communication with external clients, suppliers and peers.

  • Enjoys a fast-paced environment and to be able to adapt to changes.

  • Ability to work on own without supervision.

  • To be able to work to daily set deadlines.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail is important.

  • Familiarity with Internet usage and terminology.

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Team Player

  • Supportive attitude and a willingness to share knowledge

  • Understanding of the value of customer service to an organisation.
