Reporting Line – Billings and Collections Manager

Purpose of the Role

The Finance function is responsible for the production of the Firm's management information and accounts and manages the financial aspects of the business to include work in progress, bills, partner drawings and accounts.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to join our team based in Leeds. You will have experience in managing a ledger and a proven track record of collecting cash and reducing debtor days in a business environment.


The responsibilities of the role are varied and include:

► Communicating with clients and third parties by letter and telephone to ensure prompt payment of bills, whilst always maintaining and strengthening existing relationships
► Liaising with Partners/Associates regarding outstanding debt, providing assistance to them in order to resolve outstanding queries and in turn speed up the payment process
► Being proactive to identify issues, suggest solutions and assist in implementing change
► Experience managing a complex and varied ledger
► Working to monthly cash collection targets aimed at continually improving both the debtor day and 90 day debt profiles of the firm
► Keeping accurate and up to date records of all debt chasing, using experience and judgement to ensure that items are followed up and escalated at the appropriate points in time
► Keeping the team leader up to date with any potential issues with a client's ability to settle our bills
► Liaise with Divisional Finance Managers regarding debts for their divisions
► Responsibility for administering specific client billing / collection processes

Knowledge, skills and experience required (bespoke to role) The successful candidate will have:

► A responsive and service delivery focussed approach
► Experience of B2B credit control
► Experience gained within a professional services finance department is preferred
► Excellent organisational skills
► Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and a customer service philosophy ► The ability to work well in a team-based organisation
► The ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment
► Strong IT literacy
