The Role

The IT Learning Team, as part of the wider IT department, work in a friendly and supportive environment, focused on developing and providing training on the firm-wide IT systems using a variety of methods e.g. trainer-led classroom sessions, one-to-one coaching, remote webinars, surgeries, e-learning, and tip-sheets.

We are looking for an enthusiastic senior IT trainer with at least 5 years' training experience to join the team. The role holder will be required to create and deliver high quality IT training as well as assist the IT Usability and Learning Manager in the management of the daily requirements of the IT learning team. The team delivers training to staff at all levels, across multiple locations, on existing systems as well as any new systems that are introduced to the business.

Whilst the role is primarily based in our London office there will be a requirement to travel to our Bristol office as and when needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•           To oversee and manage areas of the IT training function as directed by the IT Usability and Learning Manager.

•           Ensuring that daily learning activities are managed and pro-actively resolve or escalate to management any issues that may occur.

•           To develop, manage and co-ordinate learning projects including the resources and budget in order to deliver to agreed targets.

•           Work directly with the IT Usability and Learning Manager to develop and implement RPC's IT learning strategy.

•           Work with other teams in the IT department to identify the wider learning needs of our staff and to implement appropriate learning interventions.

•           To provide cover for the IT Usability and Learning Manager when required.

•           To provide effective and professional induction training to new staff on standard and customised applications using a variety of delivery methods.

•           Create and maintain user documentation to support courses delivered and/or to promote self-sufficiency, and support improvement and good practice.

•           To provide remote training using web or video conferencing tools for the purpose of raising skill levels and delivering short customised training sessions and programmes.

•           Author and maintain eLearning content to support colleagues across the firm.

•           To assist in administrative tasks such as dealing with requests for support and training, scheduling, dealing with course bookings and requests, updating training attendance records and maintaining the LMS.

•           Participate in regular floor walking and where appropriate provide at-desk application support, or remote screen sharing to help colleagues across all locations.

•           To participate in all training aspects of project roll-outs relating to new software and hardware.

•           Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of existing technologies in use and learn new systems or improvements to current software as required.

•           Actively contribute ideas for initiatives and innovations using the latest technologies and improvement of documented processes in place.

•           Proactively manage own time and assist others in the training team to balance workload.

•           Be committed to developing their own personal and professional skills through a variety of methods such as training and networking etc.

•           Analyse the quality and effectiveness of training that they provide and proactively improve and evolve so as to better meet the needs of the business.

•           Provide assistance to the IT Service Desk in resolving queries logged to the training team.

•           Undertake any ad hoc tasks as required.

 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Experience desired:

 

•           At five or more years training experience in a Legal or Professional Services environment with ideally two or more years at a senior level.

•           Experience of managing the daily activities of a training team and coaching trainers to assist in their development

•           Project management experience desirable

•           Windows 7 and 10, Microsoft Office suite 2010, 2016 and 365

•           Document Management Systems (eDOCS DM, iManage)

•           Knowledge of time recording systems (Aderant Expert Time)

•           InterAction

•           Articulate Storyline, Camtasia or other eLearning authoring software

•           Relevant industry standard IT qualifications eg ITIL, MOS

•           Training certified, TAP accredited or willing to work towards these as part of your development.
