An excellent opportunity has arisen for an exceptional business development professional to join our team based in the beautiful city of Bristol. If you're looking for an ambitious but supportive role which has a real impact this could be the one for you. Business development at Burges Salmon is all about working collaboratively with our lawyers. You won't be hitting the phones to make sales calls or sending out a hundred emails a day; you will be developing strategies and coaching lawyers to talk about their achievements. The goal is to help our lawyers reach new clients, and maintain excellent relationships with existing ones. You will do this through providing expertise, guidance and advice on all matters relating to business development, and overall ensuring all activities are effective and commercially valuable. As our Senior Business Development Executive your role will be busy and challenging - but we promise no day will ever be the same. Responsibilities can range from: supporting pitch and tender production to managing CRM plans. You will also get involved in helping the wider marketing department with activities such as legal directory submissions and award entries. Burges Salmon are passionate about developing our people and within the business development team we have a structured and accessible development plan to ensure you know exactly what is expected and how you can progress your career. To be successful in this role you will need to have previous business development experience, ideally gained from a professional services organisation but not necessarily within the legal sector. You are not expected to be an expert in law (that's what the lawyers do!) Having said that you will develop a good understanding of the market and sector issues, to ensure your advice and guidance is always commercially valuable. Your ability to develop your professional networks will be absolutely key, as you will be relied upon to spot business opportunities. We are looking for someone who is personable, professional, diplomatic and creative. You will have excellent communication skills, be proactive in your approach and genuinely enthusiastic about delivering innovative business development activities.
