Competitive remunerations on offer for a dynamic Costs Draftsperson within Legal 500 practice in South Yorkshire.

Working within the practices Sheffield office e, the successful draftsperson will hit the ground running, preparing private and legal aid bills for submission to the court and LAA whilst liaising with other legal professionals as required. Previous Legal Aid experience and knowledge of Law Society guidelines and LAA procedures will therefore be essential.

Responsibilities

- Preparing CFA and private bills in multiple areas of law
- Drafting replies to points of dispute and high cost case plans
- Liaising with fee earners and support staff in regard to legal costs matters
- Attending detailed assessment hearings
- Submissions to the Legal Aid Agency
- Negotiating costs issues
- Reviewing and streamlining processes and work flows
- Delivering firm wide training
- Ensuring adherence to limitation dates
- Supervising the billing team
- Adhering to Law Society guidelines and LAA procedures

The Candidate

- Applications are welcomed from costs draftspersons with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position
- Qualified to A Level standard or equivalent
- Technically proficient in all aspects of drafting bills for multiple areas of law
- Personal injury and/or clinical negligence experience would be highly advantageous
- Legal Aid experience will be essential
- Possesses outstanding verbal and written communication skills and is client-focused
- IT literate with particular expertise using Microsoft Office applications and case management systems
- Highly organised, detail orientated and works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
