My client is a cloud-based, next generation law firm with full service offices in Central London. An exciting, disrupter law firm which combines the best characteristics of both conventional (full service, smart-working offices and a real team collaborating and working alongside each other) and virtual (very high remuneration, use of clever and efficient technology and total flexibility) law firms; but without the downsides of either one. The firm is currently growing at over 30% per annum.

At this crucial stage on its journey, the firm has an opportunity for a self-motivated, smart-thinking and grounded purchase ledger clerk / accounts officer to join the law firm’s finance team, to report to the financial controller. The firm is a limited company ABS and the members of the board have started, grown and in some cases, sold businesses – thus the team works in a highly entrepreneurial way in running this top quality law firm.

Thus in this role you will be given a real opportunity to impact your business ideas and develop further skills as part of an excellent accounts team. The team is working to maintain the order and transparency of the company’s finances.

The Role

As the purchase ledger clerk / accounts officer of this entrepreneurial law firm your role will entail the following: 


  • Process supplier invoices, staff expenses and credit card expenses
  • Resolve any queries on purchase invoices before processing
  • File invoices in appropriate files including e-files
  • Check and reconcile supplier statements
  • The first point of contact for purchase ledger queries (both internal & external)
  • Processing payments from office accounts
  • Prepare daily and monthly bank reconciliation
  • Assisting in management account preparation and ad hoc duties

  Skills and qualification:


  • IT literate and strong Excel skills
  • Practical experience as purchase ledger clerk for more than 1 year
  • Being able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your priorities in line with the business needs
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with others and seen as ‘approachable’


  • Studying towards an Accountancy qualification or already qualified is an advantage
  • Experience with Legal Accounting Software
