Full time - 37.5 hours per week

At Brethertons, there are a variety of legal and operational roles available within ourcollaborative and cohesive culture. When you join Brethertons, you will be competitively rewarded, with a strong base salary and an innovative bonus scheme.  We aim to foster an environment of choice with clear career development paths, a focus on learning and development and a highly supportive structure.

We are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier within our Finance department in our Rugby office.  We are ideally looking for full time, but part time could be considered for the right candidate.

About the Role

Reporting into the Senior Cashier and working within a team environment, this is a role providing a high level Cashiering support to the different legal teams at Brethertons LLP.   This role consists of specialist accounting and clerical tasks, both regular and ad-hoc, and requires individuals to work to specific accounting processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (and other statutory and legal rules), and to protect the firm against money laundering and fraud.  Within this role, you will be dealing with all client transactions.  You will be checking and processing completions, dealing with matter costs and disbursements (including counsel fees, searches, land registry, travel expenses etc), processing write offs, monitor and review aged un-billed disbursements, resolve unidentified receipts and uncleared payments, process all payments into and out off client and office accounts, prepare client account interest recalculations and statements and transfers.  You will review and reconcile matter transactions and balances to ensure their integrity and compliance, and correctly deal with all transfers between client accounts and office accounts – ensuring monies are properly due and have the correct approvals.

About you

We are looking for someone with prior knowledge and experience of working in legal accounts, in a cashiering role.  The role requires someone who is proactive, calm, and confident, understands the importance of great customer service, and is able to provide information or advice to a range of internal and external people.   You will ideally have knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts rules, Anti-Money Laundering, and other regulations.  In addition, we are proud of the team environment we have built at Brethertons, and as such we are looking for someone who likes to work as part of a team, but also has the ability to work on tasks alone.  Whilst not essential, you will ideally hold the ILFM Diploma, or equivalent, or be working towards one.

What’s in return?

At Brethertons, we have a comprehensive reward package which includes a competitive market rate salary, pension, individual and firm wide bonus, 26 days holiday and a wellbeing day. We work hard to recognise and reward the work of those within our teams.

What’s next?

We are excited about where Brethertons is going and would love you to join us on our journey.  If this role is of interest, please contact Hannah Wright at hannahwright@brethertons.co.uk for more information on the role or application process, or submit your CV directly to us via our website.  It is essential that you include a cover letter that details why your skills are suitable for this role.  A role profile is available should you wish to view this.
