A marketing role in a law firm will have general duties found in marketing departments across business sectors and industries such as management of marketing campaigns and initiatives, drafting and designing of marketing material, provision of client information and updating relationship documents, as well as organising business trips, (mostly involved in promotion of the law firm) and supporting client meetings.
As well as these, there are some specialist functions required of legal marketing professionals. For example, developing commercial awareness around the latest legal statutes and legislation so that the correct marketing material can be produced with confidence and understanding of the subject matter. With the nature of working in a law firm, accuracy is obviously of the highest consideration in all written material, so attention to detail of a legal marketing executive or manager is of paramount importance. As usual with all roles in legal marketing, a thorough understanding of CRM databases, marketing analytics and legal information technology is a pre-requisite.
